We are primarily a Running Team that offers training year-round. For our competitive athletes emphasis is on getting our athletes in shape for competitions including Road Races, Track and Field, and Cross Country.
For our first time runners they are introduced to the sport and are taught fundamental skills. As they progress through the training and improve they will have the option to compete in events if desired.
Coach McGhee started his Track and Field career as a 400-Meter-High School Stand-out from 1973-1977 at Glen Oaks Senior High School in Baton Rouge Louisiana. During his 20-year career in the Unites States Navy, he was a player on the Base, Division and the Department Basketball teams at every Duty Station that he was assigned to. Also during his military career, he began his coaching career by coaching the Command’s Women’s Basketball Team stationed in Misawa, Japan, which won the Base Championship in their second season. After retiring from the Military he began Training one of his Sons in the theory of running the 400 meters. At this point a decision was made that the Father and Son tandem were ready to move to the next level. In the Summer of 2008 he became one of the sprint and field event coaches for The Golden Elite Track Club. Coach McGhee has become a great motivator, influence and life teacher to all that he has been privileged to coach.
For our High School Athletes preparation for District competitions, Regional Championships, and State Championships is the main target. Our main goal is to better their times in their respective events as the season progresses.
For our more advanced athletes and those that reach high levels of fitness through training they will have the chance to compete against the very best in the county, region, state, and possibly nation through competitions in Cross Country, Track & Field, and Road Racing.
